This year, Wiersholm Open had a record number of participants. Almost 150 fit and eager cyclists lined up at the starting line. Like previous years, the track followed the route from the car park at Bostad beach, via Sørkedalen valley, to Tryvann lake.
The participants represented the entire spectrum of cycle enthusiasts – from the “professional” individualist to the modest exerciser. New this year was that a number of our international partners, along with many active and dedicated students, also took part, challenging themselves to a definitive uphill race.
There was a choice between cycling a long track (23 km) and a short track (6 km).
The winners of this year’s Wiersholm Open are:
Women’s class:
Long track: Line Schartum Hansen – Statoil Fuel & Retail
Short track: Cecilie Klepstad – Expo Event
Men’s class:
Long track: Jan Olav Beitemyren – Ragde Eiendom
Short track: Sverre Petlund – VNG Norge
Wiersholm this year donated an amount of NOK 200 per registered participant to the organisation Right to Play, and will be presenting them with a cheque of NOK 31,000.
We look forward to welcoming this year’s participants and a good many more back for Wiersholm Open 2013!
