Wiersholm provides assistance for a range of major bank transactions, such as financing in Norway and overseas, refinancing, and project financing, as well as public-private partnership projects in Norway.

Wiersholm possesses considerable expertise in all areas of finance and forms of financing, and we provide assistance to a large number of Norwegian and international banks and financial institutions. We also assist large listed enterprises with loans and financing. We provide, for example, advice and assistance for negotiations and the preparation of documentation in connection with bank borrowing, shipping finance, oil rigs, aircraft, real estate and company acquisitions, as well as the follow-up of the banks’ doubtful loans through the sale of ships and other pledged assets, and the negotiation of major creditor agreements/debt settlement schemes on behalf of the company’s bank clients. Our work covers a wide range of legal areas, such as company law, with special emphasis on company law, contract law, collateral law, guarantee law and bankruptcy law.

Wiersholm works to a large extent on an international basis. Many of our clients are foreign, and overseas legal assistance is often required.

Norwegian and international surveys of lawyers have ranked Wiersholm as a “leading firm” (on several occasions as the only firm) in the “banking and finance” category for many years.

The firm, including the firm’s litigators, also assist bank clients in major disputes with regard to defaulted loans in connection with the enforcement of a security interest, such as a security interest in shares.
